For the simple stuff we work with several screen printers and embroidery shops to make what you need - just let us know what look you're going for, supply the logos/branding you want to apply, and we'll get it sorted for you.  We can be flexible and work in with your existing suppliers.

For larger events, where we provide you an end-to-end merchandising solution.  It's risky making a large batch of merchandise for an event when you don't know what the demand will be.  So through careful planning and arranging for advance orders you can offer a massive range of sizes and styles, have the merchandising fund itself, and even make some profit out of it!

 

Case Study: International Taekwon-Do 2011 World Championships

In March 2011, New Zealand hosted the ITF World Taekwon-Do Championships at the TSB Arena in Wellington.  This was a massive event with over 500 black-belt competitors and thousands of supporters and spectators.

The organisers wanted to offer a wide range of event merchandise, but didn't want to take the risk of printing thousands of T-shirts etc that might not sell - plus didn't want to spend any money upfront.  So they asked Sapius to manage the merchandise on their behalf.  The Sapius team:

  • took all the financial risk associated with the merchandising
  • designed a range of merchandise, working with existing branding guidelines
  • ran a tender process to identify an appropriate manufacturer, who could produce high quality at a competitive price
  • created an online web store to advertise the merchandise and receive advance orders (made to order)
  • ran a stall at the event, offering both made-to-order and counter sales
  • pre-packed all orders and reconciled stock ordered, to stock received and orders dispatched
  • managed all interactions between the manufacturer, International Taekwon-Do and customers
  • provided regular status and financial reporting to the event organiser.

How did it go?  The event sold almost 1,600 individual merchandising items!  The merchandise more than paid for itself and required no upfront funding from the organisers.  Through the whole process all the event organisers needed to do was approve the designs, and help market the merchandise to their members...and then of course, bank the profits!

 

Case Study:  Wellington Region Karate Academy

In 2010 the Wellington Region Karate Academy wanted to promote their club, and give a professional image when attending National tournaments.  The Sapius team:

  • designed a range of merchandise with their existing preferred manufacturer
  • created an online store, plus manual templates for the club to receive orders
  • automated the processes for the orders to be collated, paid for and sent to the manufacturer
  • pre-packed and supplied the gear to the club.

This is now in place as an ongoing capability for the Wellington Region Karate Academy.  You can go to their web site anytime and place an order, and when the quantities are sufficient Sapius manages the production processes.
