Is black trim and stripes for me?
Your grade determines what Taekwon-do Dobok style is right for you. All coloured belts from 10th-1st gup wear a uniform with no black trim; black belts from 1st-3rd Dan have black trip around the jacket, and 4th Dan and above add black stripes on the arms and legs.
Embroidered or screen printed logos?
The ITF prefer all logos to be embroidered, not screen printed including the ITF Tree on the back of the jacket. Embroidered logos do cause some bunching when uniforms shrink, but will not fade or peel off.
Sapius uniforms have embroidered ITF logos, ITF Tree and lettering on pants, with the option of adding the ITFNZ logo.
What length of jacket?
Given the nature of Taekwon-Do training it is typical for jackets to "ride up" the body through the class. Though there is no regulated jacket length, historically the length of the jacket should cover the crotch area of the pants. A slightly longer jacket will not ride up as far, and continue to cover the crotch area at all times.
Sapius uniforms have distinctively long jackets. They may appear slightly oversized when brand new, but once they shrink under normal usage they will settle to a good-looking length. This means they will look better, for longer!
